The short version

letsgetbetterlife.com is a static site. The pages you read are files, served as they were written. There are no accounts, no logins, no comment threads, no newsletter, and no analytics software. The site sets no cookies of its own. One third-party script does sit in the pages now: the site participates in Google AdSense, and until Google approves the site and ads begin to appear, that script places no advertising. The advertising section below explains what changes when it does. Beyond that, if you read an essay here and never write to the editors, this publication holds nothing about you.

The rest of this page fills in the detail, including the one place where technical information is unavoidably processed in order to deliver a page at all.

What is not collected

• No name, email address, or any other detail about you, unless you choose to send one.
• No accounts, profiles, or reading history tied to a person.
• No analytics package, page-view counter, heatmap, or session recorder.
• No tracking pixels and no third-party scripts, with one exception: the Google advertising script described in the advertising section below.
• No cross-site tracking by this publication itself, and no data bought from or shared with data brokers.
• Nothing sold, because there is nothing here to sell.

Email you send to the editors

Writing to contact@letsgetbetterlife.com means your email address and whatever you put in the message arrive in an ordinary mailbox. That correspondence is used to read and answer you, and for nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, since none exists. It is not used for marketing, sold, or passed to third parties, other than the email provider that carries and stores the message in the normal course of delivering mail.

Threads are kept while they remain useful, mainly so that a correction can be traced back to the reader who reported it. You can ask at any time for your correspondence to be deleted, and it will be.

How these pages reach you

The site is served through Cloudflare. To deliver a page and to keep the site standing under automated traffic, Cloudflare processes each request and may log standard technical data as part of that service: the requesting IP address, the browser user agent string, the address requested, and the time of the request. This is ordinary infrastructure logging, and it happens for essentially every website you visit anywhere.

That processing is carried out by Cloudflare under its own terms and privacy practices, described at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. The editors do not use those logs to identify readers, do not build analytics or audience profiles from them, and do not combine them with anything else.

Advertising

letsgetbetterlife.com participates in Google AdSense, and the AdSense script is present on its pages. At the time of writing, Google has not yet reviewed the site and no ads are being served. Until that approval arrives and advertising begins to appear, the script places no advertising, and this section describes what is coming rather than what is already on the page.

Once ads serve, Google and its partners act as third-party vendors on this site. They use advertising cookies and similar identifiers to choose which ads to show, to cap how often you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad appeared. That selection can draw on your prior visits to this site and to other sites, which is why an ad can seem to have followed you here from somewhere else.

You can adjust or switch off personalized advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and manage other participating vendors through aboutads.info/choices.

For readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, personalized advertising runs only with consent, gathered through a consent management platform certified by Google. That prompt will appear when ads begin serving, not before, which is why you have not seen one yet. The cookie policy covers the same ground from the cookie side.

Links that leave the site

Essays sometimes link to pages elsewhere. Those sites are run by other people under their own privacy practices, and this policy covers only letsgetbetterlife.com. Following a link is worth the same small pause you would give any other site you had not visited before.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. No personal information is knowingly collected from children. Since there is no form, no account, and no comment field, the only way for anyone to send personal information here is by email. If you believe a child has written to the contact address, say so and the message will be deleted.

Asking about your data

Requests go to contact@letsgetbetterlife.com. In practice, the only personal data this publication holds is an email exchange that you began, so a request usually means one of four things: asking what is held, asking for a copy of it, asking for something to be corrected, or asking for the correspondence to be deleted. Any of those will be handled, and a reply may ask a question or two to make sure the right thread is being acted on.

Depending on where you live, local law may give you rights over personal data held about you. This page makes no claim of certification under any particular privacy framework; it describes what actually happens here, which is close to nothing beyond the mail you choose to send.

When this policy changes

Changes are made to this page in place, and the date at the top is updated to match. Older versions are not kept as a separate archive. If something material changes, this page will say so before the change takes effect rather than after. The advertising section above, written before any ad has been shown, is that habit in practice.
